For this Academic Year, students who shall graduate with Latin Honors will be covered by relevant provisions in the 2019 Student Manual, specifically under Section 26 – Graduation with Honors, item 26.1 - For College Students on Academic Requirements. The following are the Latin Honors to be conferred:
Summa Cum Laude – a weighted average of 1.25 or higher with no grade lower than 1.7 from first year to graduating year.
Magna Cum Laude – a weighted average of 1.5 or higher with no grade lower than 1.8 from first year to graduating year.
Cum Laude – a weighted average of 1.7 or higher with no grade lower than 1.9 from first year to graduating year
With Distinction – a weighted average of 1.9 or higher with no grade lower than 2.0 from first year to graduating year.
This award is granted only when NO ONE QUALIFIES for the LATIN HONORS.
The proposed revision of the guidelines for Latin Honors was approved on September 13, 2021, however, the effectivity of its implementation is subject to prospective application.
Below are the revised guidelines of the Academic Requirements which will be applied to the first-year students enrolled in the current school year, 2021-2022.
a.1 Summa Cum Laude - the student shall obtain a weighted average of 1.25 or higher with no grade lower than 2.0 from first year to graduating year.
a.2 Magna Cum Laude - the student shall obtain a weighted average of 1.5 or higher with no grade lower than 2.2 from first year to graduating year.
a.3 Cum Laude - the student shall obtain a weighted average of 1.7 or higher with no grade lower than 2.5 from first year to graduating year.
a.4 No Academic Distinction Award shall be given due to the sufficiently-attainable grade requirements for the three levels of Latin Honors.
