HISTORY
The Graduate Program of the Don Honorio Ventura College of Arts and Trades (DHVCAT) started in 1981 with the Master of Arts in Industrial Education (MAIE) major in Administration and Supervision with 10 enrollees and one graduate in 1983.

The enrollees in MAIE gradually increased to around 100 students. In the second trimester of Academic Year 2002 – 2003, the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program was offered in consortium with Bulacan State University (BSU).

Due to the capability of the Graduate School, effective March 2, 2010, the Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University (DHVTSU) Board of Regents (BOR) noted the request of the University President to terminate the DHVTSU consortium of the Ed.D. program with BSU and offer the Ed.D. program independently.

The Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) major in Educational Management program was approved by the DHVCAT Board of Trustees (BOT) through Resolution No. 12 s. 2003 in its special meeting held at DHVCAT on April 14, 2003. It was initially offered in the first trimester of Academic Year 2003 – 2004. An additional graduate program was offered in the Academic Year 2008 – 2009, the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, which DHVCAT BOT approved through Resolution No. 41 s. 2007.

In June 2010, the DHVTSU BOR approved Board Resolution No. 36 s. 2010, the establishment of a consortium between DHVTSU and Mary the Queen College located at Olongapo – Gapan Road, Sta. Rita, Pampanga on the offering of MPA and MAEd.

The DHVTSU Graduate School sees among its graduates intellectually energized individuals who excel in their future careers in diverse settings and who can provide leadership through educational technology for the improvement of the community and Filipino society in a changing global environment.

The Graduate school is committed to provide the highest standards of instruction, research, extension and production, develop responsive, competent and morally responsible professionals who will become leaders in the creation of educational opportunities for the promotion of regional and national development.

OBJECTIVES
The following are the objectives of the Graduate School:

  1. To motivate graduate students to commit themselves to a meaningful and dynamic participation in the pursuit of educational goals;
  2. To inculcate sense of self-reliance and independent thinking on graduate students so as to be capable of devising new and imaginative awareness for their enhancement;

  3. To develop leadership and expertise in their chosen fields of specialization through actual researches as part of graduate educational requirements.

Academic Programs

  • Doctor of Education (Ed. D.)  in Educational Management
    This program is designed for the advance student who aspires to top level administrative position and who wishes to achieve a superior level of competency in the exercise leadership roles in educational policy formulation and management. The program provides an understanding of sound educational foundation and the application of research to practice.
  • Master of Public Administration (MPA)
    This program is intended for those with career interest in public governance. The curriculum blends theoretical and applied concepts and assures “real-world” experiences for the novice administrator. In addition, it requires that students devote attention to general professional development.
  • Master of Arts in Education (MAEd)
    The MAEd prepares individuals for the broad spectrum of educational positions and roles in the field of education. It prepares education students for the various administrative and supervisory positions in elementary, secondary, post-secondary and vocational programs.

Academic Guidelines

FOR THE DOCTORAL PROGRAMS

  1. Admission Requirements
    Doctor of Education (Ed.D)
    1. An applicant with an average rating of at least 1.5 in a relevant masteral course is eligible for admission to the doctoral program.
    2. Non-educational management master’s degree holders may be admitted to the doctoral program provided that he/she completes a maximum of eighteen (18) units in major subjects in the masteral program.
    3. At least two (2) years of work experience
    4. All applicants for admission should submit the following:
      1. Original and Copy of Official Transcript of Records
      2. Completed Application Form
      3. Four(4) copies of 1.5 x 1.5 latest photo
      4. Satisfactory Admission Test Scores
      5. Satisfactory Interview Results
      6. Photocopy of Marriage Certifcate (if married)
      7. Letter of Recommendation (Present Employer/College/University Official)
  2. Enrolment
    1. Students must complete their enrolment within the prescribed schedule. Fine shall be imposed on late enrollees.
    2. Late registration may be allowed provided it does not exceed nine (9) hours of semestral work starting from the official opening of classes in the Graduate School.
    3. Students who have paid the required fees and have submitted the enrolment forms to the different offices concerned are the only ones considered officially enrolled.
    4. Only officially enrolled students are entitled to the class cards which should be surrendered to their respective professors immediately.

FOR THE MASTER'S PROGRAMS

  1. Admission Requirements
    1. Only those students who graduated with at least a bachelor’s degree with an average rating of at least 85 percent or 2.0 in the entire course is eligible for admission to the master’s program.
      Students with lower general average than the prescribed rating may be admitted to the master’s program on probationary basis. However, they may change status after having obtained an average rating of 1.5 or better in the first nine (9) units.
    2. At least one (1) year work experience
    3. All applicants for admission should submit the following:
      1. Original and Copy of Official Transcript of Records
      2. Completed Application Form
      3. Four(4) copies of 1.5 x 1.5 latest photo
      4. Sarisfactory Admission Test Scores
      5. Satisfactory Interview Results
      6. Photocopy of Marriage Certifcate (if married)
      7. Letter of Recommendation (Present Employer/College/University Official)
    4. Admission to a specific graduate program is required of the applicants, to wit:
      Master of Arts in Education - Bachelor’s degree holder in Education. For non-education graduate, pre-requisite of 18 units of professional education in undergraduate level.
  2. Enrolment
    1. Students shall complete their enrolment within the prescribed schedule. A fine shall be imposed on late enrollees for every working day of the late enrolment period.
    2. Late registration may be allowed provided that it does not exceed nine (9) hours of semestral work starting from the official opening of classes in the Graduate School.
